A Story of Burnout Transformation

I am on a mission to empower single moms everywhere. Through my business, I offer strategies to provide transformation from burnout to thriving, just as I have done for myself. Together, we are rewriting the narrative for single moms, demonstrating that we are not burdens but incredible, resilient forces to be reckoned with.

Hey there, I’m Crissy!

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, in a 2-bedroom apartment alongside my grandmother and several other family members. My grandmother, a strong matriarch, supported our household with a small disability check and limited public food assistance. Unfortunately, I wasn’t exposed to healthy eating habits, financial literacy, or personal growth concepts during my upbringing.

As a child, I witnessed the struggles of the women in my family. My mother grappled with drug addiction, and my father passed away from HIV when I was just four years old. My mother, facing her own battles, abandoned me around the same time. This left me with a lingering sense of feeling unwanted, which shaped my teenage years. I became unruly and angry, struggling to find my place.

“Stronger Than You Think”

At the young age of 13, I realized that I had to take control of my life. Over the next few years, I learned essential life skills, such as budgeting, working, and exploring educational opportunities. I discovered hope for myself and those in my family.

At 18, I became pregnant, and the challenges continued. Yet, I remained determined not to let my circumstances dictate my future.

I chose to be a single mother rather than accept emotional and domestic abuse for myself and my daughter. Working long hours to provide for us, I faced financial difficulties and ended up in significant credit card debt, a mistake I believe many single moms make.

One day, I hit rock bottom. I found myself lying on my bed, tears streaming down my face, overwhelmed and drained. My young daughter entered the room and asked if I was dying. Her concern awakened something within me. I responded with a powerful truth: “We are all dying, but I am here to live, to fight, and to thrive.” It was a turning point.

I recognized that I had allowed myself to become burned out, neglecting the resilience I had learned in my childhood. I decided to take action. Being resilient doesn’t mean we avoid stress or suffering; it means we have the strength to overcome hardships.

“The Hard Truth About Transformation”

Society often stigmatizes single mothers, unfairly viewing them as a burden. I’ve experienced this firsthand, but I was determined to prove those stereotypes wrong. I embarked on a journey to earn respect by effectively raising my daughter on my own.

The most crucial lesson I’ve learned is to address stress promptly, not allowing it to build up. As a single mother, I carried the weight of all decisions on my shoulders. Recognizing the signs of burnout and seeking support early is essential. I also realized the importance of self-care and self-compassion.

Today, I proudly stand as a testament to resilience, determination, and the unyielding spirit of a single mom. From my humble beginnings in Brooklyn, navigating the hardships of my upbringing, to the challenges of single motherhood, I’ve emerged stronger and more empowered than ever before.

As a six figure earner and a trailblazing utility worker and appliance service technician, I’ve broken down barriers and defied stigmas. I’m not only supporting myself but also proudly providing my daughter with opportunities I once yearned for.
